As long as people who don't like it can ignore it and not miss out on anything (like let's say people who gather a lot craft gear faster, but you get gear by killing monsters and the odds are nicely balanced) then I'm fine there's no reason to argue against it if it's implemented well. It just makes sense that you'd have resource nodes. I don't have a problem with gathering tbh, I don't see how it isn't true to Diablo. And D4 has something in it that I absolutely hate (shared world, or more specifically the fact that it is forced and not optional).

I enjoyed D3 as just a game, but the writing and art style don't feel like Diablo. It got pretty long so TL DR: I kinda agree with the D2 statement.

I like that your example is a few elder scrolls plants, but if they can make resource gathering as simple and impulsive as skyrim i'll be hitting the gather button like a simpleton and stuffing my bag full of maghda wings or whatever the fuck without even pausing to consider if i need them It's weird because conceptually it shouldn't be more absurd than swiping a handful of gold off the ground into your purse, and with the right crusty, grognardy attitude it could actually bring a nice dash of flavor to crafting (like, get the guano and sulfur to add a fireball proc or whatever)īut it's such a big pain in the ass to balance, because if it's too obtrusive, or crafting is a garbage system with no incentive, or if it becomes as flavorless as diablo 3's shit-tier resources, well, why bother? diablo 3 tried to shake it up by putting specific crafting drops on specific monsters and they pulled it pretty quickly, what magic pixie dust do they have that the 3 team didn't? Now I wonder if they are personal like loot in D3 or not, like loot in D2.
